Since the release of 'Get Wet' in November 1979, the Mentals racked up an impressive 25 singles in the Australian Top 40—a record for a local act that stood until the mid-1990s. Their success also spread well beyond Australia, with strong chart performances across Europe, the UK, Canada, and New Zealand. Their signature hit “Live It Up” remains a staple on radio throughout the UK and Europe more than three decades after reaching No. 4 in the UK, No. 3 in Germany, and No. 1 in Scandinavia.
The band was also the very first act signed to 'Regular Records', which released their debut single “The Nips Are Getting Bigger” in August 1979 ahead of 'Get Wet'. Across more than a dozen studio albums, the group delivered a string of unforgettable tracks including “Come Around,” “If You Leave Me, Can I Come Too?”, “Too Many Times,” “Berserk Warriors,” “Spirit Got Lost,” and “You’re So Strong.” Their international breakthrough came with “Live It Up,” released in 1984 and later immortalised in the 1986 hit film 'Crocodile Dundee', ensuring its place as one of Australia’s most recognisable songs.
