Firstly, we hand clean the record with a special brush and high quality record cleaner. The record is then placed in our ultrasonic cleaner for a machine clean and dry.

A static brush is then used to help get rid of any static charge on the record and any loose dust.

We also give the cover and any inner sleeves a clean at the same time.

We then visualise the record for any imperfections such as scratches, scuffs, warps and left over dirt and residue. We use a bright light to inspect the record. We then play test it to see how the recording is.

We then visualise the cover, inner sleeves and anything that comes with the record. We check for wear, rips, holes, water damage and splits.

For this process, two people will actually do the visual grading to get a more broad and accurate option on the grading of the record and cover. A decision is then made on the grading.

We take pictures of both sides of the record and cover, as well as any extras that come with it, like inner sleeves, printed lyric sheets or posters.

We want to make sure that you can see as much detail as possible in our used record listings.

We understand the issues that can come with buying used records online, so we're trying to give you an experience that is like picking up and looking at a record in a physical record store.

After taking the photos, we place the records into brand new rice paper sleeves, and the covers into new clear protecting outer sleeves. 

We ship the records using the strongest cardboard mailers on the market. You can have peace of mind that your record purchase will arrive in the condition it left us here at Top Shelf Records.
